The Amazing Bell Airacobra and “Rosie the Riveter”
One of the little known stories of WWII aviation is the Bell Airacobras (P-39s) that were built mostly for the Russian Air Force. A lot of these planes were built by women, “Rosie the Riveterss” in western New York. Here’s the story of one Airacobra that was found deep in a Russian lake 60 years after it had disappeared.. Incidentally, the Airacobra was one heck of a warplane.
